Grimms Survival Guide: Zombie Testing Methods and Systems

Zombie Tests and Method Systems:
Now a zombie apocalypse is a situation none of us have ever been in before, so there is bound to be some kinks in the plan. It’s best to work them out before they are your last chance at surviving. You might want to first work out what weapon will suit you.

Trial and Error - This is a good idea only when you have one or two zombies near you. Try the weapon out on them and if it works then keep it. If it’s too hard to keep using, find something easier. And if it doesn’t work at all, well good show - you’ll probably be dead in the next couple of minutes. Building barricades and blocking windows is handy to keep track of. Keep note of what did work and what didn’t, then try not to use the stuff that didn’t work. That brings us to the next method:
Good Judgment - Think about things before you do stuff. By this I don’t mean sit down, get comfortable and perfect your Thinker pose. I mean, find somewhere relatively safe, take a deep breath and decide what’s best for your survival. ‘Where should I go?’ and ‘What should I do?’ are both good questions to have worked out before you go out looking around.

Some other very important things to work out can be done by following these tests.
You want to find out more about the zombies. Can they read? What are they attracted to? Sound, heat, vision, movement?
If they see you and then chase you, then they probably can use their vision to find you. If not, all the better.
If they can’t, find something small and throw it away from you, if they all swarm to the small object – they probably hunt by sound. So be quiet. Guns will only attract more of them, so use blades.
You might want to know if the zombies are blind – scrawl a note saying ‘tasty humans in the river’ and see if they head toward the river. If they try to eat the paper, they probably can’t read. Or they only know the word ‘tasty’.

Thanks again,
          Grimm.

  1. *actually laughs out loud!*

This is hilarious! I had never thought about zombies being blind or able to read before. It makes the whole thing much spookier!

I'll have to remember to have a couple of options in the trial-and-error method; it would suck to get stuck there unarmed and then die. I wouldn't want to be eaten by zombies!

Thanks for this Grimm - it's always a pleasure to read your Guide as you have a great style and very pertinent info in case of a Zompocalypse. I'm looking forward to the next chapter!
